A Weekend in San Francisco

San Francisco is undoubtedly my favorite city I have ever visited! There’s just something about that city that gets me every time…oh wait, it’s everything about that city that gets me! From SF’s history, architecture, landmarks, attractions, people, food — you name it, San Francisco makes everything better. After visiting there last year, I fell in love and knew I wanted to go back for my birthday weekend this year (back in January).

Now, if it’s your first time visiting San Francisco, I highly recommend going to all of the tourist destinations first before exploring the city as a local would. For example, the Golden Gate Bridge, a must! Fisherman’s Wharf is also an important neighborhood to visit if you’ve never been! However, after the main attractions are checked off, it’s time for everything else SF has to offer.

During this trip, I stayed at Hotel Diva, one of the most Instagram-able hotels I’ve ever seen, but also an overall great place to spend the weekend. Aside from good service, nice rooms and very San Franciscan architecture, it’s right in the middle of Union Square so it’s walking distance to all the shops + restaurants in that area.

As far as food goes, San Francisco has the best food — no question about it. I think I ate more spending three days in San Francisco than I do during a normal week. For coffee, tea or a pick-me-up, my favorite coffee shops are: Blue Bottle Coffee (the South of Market location is especially nice), Fillmore Bakeshop (for the “cheapest hipster coffee on the street!”) and Sightglass Coffee (such a photogenic coffee shop). For lunch: Jane on Fillmore (literally one of the best cafes ever and their matcha latte is really good too) and Dottie’s True Blue Cafe. Finally, for dinner: Boudin Bakery at Fisherman's Wharf (for the classic clam-chowder in a bread bowl) and IL Fornaio (because Italian food is always a good idea).

Also during this trip, most of the time was spent walking around the city exploring different shops and neighborhoods. If you love shopping, you’ll love the stores in San Francisco. From Westfield San Francisco Centre to street boutiques to pop-up shops, you can definitely spend a day and an entire year’s salary shopping in SF - or at least I can…

I love San Francisco and I think I like it more and more each time I visit! If you’re planning your next weekend trip, I highly recommend SF!
