Over the past couple of months, I’ve been thinking about which direction I wanted my blog to follow. For some reason I fell into this “creative funk” and didn’t really know why. I felt really uninspired and couldn’t get myself to come out of this rut - I mean I went 3 weeks without posting an Instagram photo. Then all of a sudden, the light bulb started to go off. I don’t really know how, but I think a big part of that was because of the season changing. After all, fall is my second favorite season so it does make sense to feel “refreshed” as summer was coming to an end.

With all of this being said, I wanted to write this post to share a few thoughts I had and to answer some FAQ’s I’ve gotten ever since I started my blog. At the end of the day, this website is my personal blog and I’m going to be as transparent and honest as possible. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with expressing your thoughts regardless of who you are or what you’re doing! So, here are some questions I wanted to answer in further detail to help my readers get to know me a little more…

Why did you start a blog?

  • I started my blog in order for me to share about what I love on a greater scale and to have my own platform. Now, unfortunately, as amazing as Instagram is, it wasn’t enough for me to talk about anything as much as I could on my own website. I mean I could never write an entire blog post in a caption or include as many photos as I can in one Instagram post. Provided Instagram is always updating, these newer features weren’t around from the beginning, right? It was time that I created my own platform. So, if you’ve ever wanted to ask me why I started a blog, now you know :)

How come you don’t post often?

  • This is something I really wanted to address today, because I think it’s important for people to know. Besides blogging and trying to grow in this industry/as a brand, I am also a full-time student and had a separate job as well. So as you could imagine, my plate was full. What I have come to learn throughout my experiences since starting a blog, is that it is a lot of work. This may sound silly at first, but as a blogger (especially a beginner or someone who doesn’t have the extra help of an assistant/intern), everything is on you. This means writing, revising, scouting locations, shooting, editing, brand communications, emailing back and forth, and of course creating the post itself — these are all up to you! So with that entire process to additionally being a full-time student and working, I wasn’t able to create as much content as I would like to but also as much as I should. However, I knew that I had to learn to balance everything in order to be as successful as I personally can. But by doing so, I learned that there was something more important than what I was doing… my passion. The amazing part, is that now blogging has become my main focus as far as working! Now it’s just a matter of creating content…

Is becoming a full-time blogger/influencer your end goal?

  • Yes and no. If sharing what you love and creating content is something you’re truly passionate about, then who wouldn’t want to do it full-time right? However, creating a brand for yourself and transitioning from a “normal” job to something more freelance as a blogger takes a lot of time, hard work and growth (but what dream job doesn’t)? There are so many part-time bloggers and content creators that do this on the side because of how much they love sharing and I love that because you should never stop what you’re doing, even if it’s on the side. Perhaps, if I don’t get to do this full-time, I know I have a plan B and would continue to share regardless if blogging is an ongoing creative outlet or my career.

Do you actually like the brands you work with?

  • I don’t like, I love! As cheesy as that sounds, I only work with brands that I use, I trust and believe in. Going back to honesty, I would never take an offer from a brand that I’m not a fan of — it just doesn’t make sense and it’s also unfair to my audience that I’d be advertising something just for the sake of a collab. Im also proud to say that I have worked with the brands I have so far because of how much I love them so it’s a win-win!

Well, everyone, there you go! I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I did writing it. If you have any questions, comments or just something you want to share as well, please leave comment and don’t be afraid to reach out!
